Pita Chips

Photo courtesy of steph of a whisk and a spoon. Thanks, steph!

No need to buy a bag of expensive pita chips for your hummus! You can save money AND have delicious chips you make yourself, anyway you like!

What you'll need...

Pita Bread
Olive Oil
Kosher Salt

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Split your pita bread and place it split-side up on a cookie sheet. With a pastry brush, brush a little olive oil onto your pita. Sprinkle with salt. Place in oven for about 5 minutes. WATCH IT CLOSELY!!! Ovens vary and this will burn easily if left too long. If your first batch comes out a little chewy, try a minute more and check. Break into pieces when cool.

*** You can use a variety of seasonings for this. I use simply salt and sometimes ground pepper to serve with hummus. You could use Italian seasoning, garlic salt, onion salt & chives... the choices are endless. You can also brush with melted butter instead of olive oil for a different, sweeter flavor.
